GOD’S GRACE IN ST. PAUL’S LETTER TO THE CHURCH OF THE THESSALONIANS – God’s grace will culminate in Christ’s second advent, when he will take all believers to be with him in an eternal home above. The return of our Savior is mentioned more times in the New Testament (318) than any other doctrine. This teaching is the major theme of these letters to a church experiencing and facing great persecution. Since Paul’s first letter may have raised some questions about this topic at Thessalonica, in his second letter, he explains more fully some of the details about the culmination of God’s grace. Although this event should terrify those who reject the gospel, the return of our Lord is a reassuring and joyful hope for believers, no matter what they experience and face in the here and now. As for those Thessalonians who feared they might not be found “blameless” at Jesus’ second coming, Paul calms their fears by emphasizing that they are loved by the Lord because God chose them from the beginning of time. That is, their salvation does not depend on their sinlessness, but on God’s election. Paul reassures these people (and us all) that they (we) are saved through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and belief in the truth of God’s grace. LocationParish Hall. LeaderBill Denham

GOD’S GIFTS FOR SERVICE - All of us have many callings in life. We may be spouses, parents, friends, mentors, volunteers. Because of this questions arise: How do I carry out my Christian faith in the work place? Is my work pleasing to God? How do I balance being a Christian with my calling of being a citizen? These and other questions will be discussed according to Scripture and our Lutheran Confessions. Come join us for this timely class for our world of today! LocationScience Room. LeaderPastor Radtke.
