Pastor Martin H. Rothe, born at Farina, Illinois, August 14,
1908, was graduated from Concordia Seminary, Springfield.
in the spring of 1932.. From August 1932 - April 1933 served
as an intern in various congregations in and about Russe11-
, vil1e, Arkansas.
I On April 16, 1933 was married to Miss Leona Jasper at St.
Peter, Illinois. They have been blessed with two daughters.
Mrs. Doris Richardson of Springfield. Illinois and Mrs.
Lucille Runnels of Quincy, Illinois. each daughter having
two children.
On April 30, 1933 was ordained and installed as Pastor of St.
John's Lutheran Church, Bible Grove with Louisville, Illinois

address. Then in December 1937 also became the Pastor of
St. Matthew's, Eberle, Illinois. Chosen Counselor of the
Effingham Circuit 1943-45.
In September 1945 was installed as the Pastor .of the dual
i parish, Immanuel in Staunton and Holy Crossin Livingstone,
: Illinois. Also serving as Counselor from 1946-49.
In December 1949 accepted the call extended by Holy Cross.
Wartburg. near Waterloo. Illinois. -
In October 1951 was installed at Immanuel, Charleston,
Illinois, also serving as Student Pastor at Eastern Illinois
State College.
In June of 1957 accepted Pastorate at Zion, MOunt Pulaski,
Illinois, serving also as Counselor .of the Lint;oln Circuit
for eight years. Likewise served as Chairman of the
Central Illinois Dist~ict Town and Country Commission for
many years.
In August of 1971 accepted the position of Assistant Pastor
of Trinity Lutheran Church, Crown Point, Indiana. After
two busy blessed years there retired from the active ministry
in September 1973. Moved to Springfi~ld to become Visiting
Pastor ,of Trinity Luthe~an Church starting October 1,19.73. -
Advance Studies: Post Graduate Work at Concordia Seminary,
St. Louis 1945-50. Rural Church LeaderS
Workshops at various times. In-service training between.
semesters for Church and Community Leaders for many years
at the University of Illinois. Sprins of 1974, Graduate
Work at Concordia Seminary, Springfield.
