Dear Pastor Rothe:

On this occasion of the observance of your retirement from
active service here at Trinity, I would like you to know how thank-
ful I am for the seven years we have been able to work together
and for your great faithfulness in carrying out your various respon-
sibilities.

You have not only "done your duty" but have gone far beyond
your duty. You have been a good and faithful servant. I sincerely
regret that I am not able to be with you on Sunday, October 27,
but, as you know, I have scheduled myself to be on vacation at this
time and could not change the plans.

Your job has been made lighter and more joyous, I know, by
your faithful helpmate, Mrs. Rothe. My best wishes to you both on
this day and always.
